I distinctly remember a stool just like this in the waiting room and repair areas at the filling station down the street from my Albuquerque home in the 1950's. Of course it wasn't in as good a shape, but it had all the character a chair could ever expect from the shiny tough vinyl to the lustrous chrome legs and supports.
